July 7, 209 (Do you think you'd ever want to work in a library? Why or why not?)
No, I dont think I'd ever want to work in a library. It seems a little bring to me. I like to do hands on things like research and labs, and I dont think sitting in a library all day looking up books for people would be for me.

That's understandable and actually a very common stereotype of librarians (that we sit in the library all day looking up books)! I've worked in libraries for over 20 years and I've never had a job where all I did was look up books, lol! If that's all I did, I believe that I would be quite bored, too!
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I like about being a librarian is that no one day is exactly like the others. On one day we might get a phone call from a surgeon literally calling from the surgical suite needing us to find some information on some new brain surgery technique, and on another we might teach a class on Medline Plus or troubleshoot someone's ability to access a specific article over the phone for their research project. Maybe one day you'll be open to chatting with a librarian and asking them what they do and why they like being a librarian-- I think you might be surprised.
Best of luck with your goals, Ladysponge!
